   Near Field Communication (NFC)

Near field communication is the transferring of information via wireless connections over very short distances (up to 4 centimeters). NFC may uses proximity (closeness) to initiate the connection and transfer of information (such as touching a device to a point of sale reader to pay for products). NFC devices (such as smartphones) can use electromagnetic induction to provide power to passive NFC devices (such as a sign that has no power connection).
