UMTS LTE Type 1 Frame Structure - FDD

A type 1 frame is 10 msec in duration and is composed of 10 sub-frames and each sub-frame has 2 time slots (20 time slots per frame). Type 1 frames are used for frequency duplex mode.

This figure shows the basic parts and operation of the UMTS LTE FDD system. This diagram shows that the UMTS LTE FDD system uses two radio channels that are nominally separated to allow for full duplex two-way communication. Each radio channel is further divided into 10 msec frames and 20 time slots (500 usec each) that contain control or user data.
