GPS receiver initialization is the process of capturing initial parameters that are used by the satellite receiver to capture information from the satellite system. For GPS systems, receiver initialization can be used to gather and correct some of the errors created by the GPS system. ![]() This figure shows how receiver initialization may be used to correct for some of the biases and errors in the GPS system. This diagram shows that a GPS receiver is initialized at a known location. The received GPS correction values can be updated and stored using the known location information.
